PorOsteon

PorOsteon, a privately held medical device company based in Menlo Park, CA, was co-founded by The Beta Group and Confluent Medical Technologies. Funded by Beta, PorOsteon is the exclusive manufacturer of medical devices composed of Phusion Metal®, a highly differentiated and proprietary form of porous Nitinol. The unique material is designed to promote rapid bone/tissue ingrowth and can act as a carrier for biologics, drug delivery, and other therapeutic agents.

Phusion Metal® has an FDA Master Access File along with 510(k) approval for interbody fusion applications. Initial human implantations in the cervical spine have resulted in excellent results for both speed of recovery and completeness of fusion.

PorOsteon’s innovative and advanced porous Nitinol technology has been developed as an improved porous metal for a wide range of applications throughout the $40+B orthopedic industry (spine, hip, knee, shoulder, small bones, dental, craniomaxillofacial, and vet).

Unlike wrought Nitinol, Beta has developed the first FDA approved porous Nitinol orthopedic fusion technology. Phusion Metal® has porosity, stiffness and hydrophilic properties which attract and stimulate bone formation.
